Hi! My name is Lauren and I am the creator of The Librarian Who Runs. I decided to start this site so that I could combine two things I love: running and the library.

Now, a little about who I am and what I do:

I live in Lexington, Kentucky and I am currently a Master’s student in the Library Science program at UK. I graduated with a degree in English in 2012 and then spent the next four years working at a non-profit campus ministry (we hold the record for the World’s Largest Water Balloon Fight…no, really).

As it currently stands, I still work at that campus ministry and serve on our Development Team. I also work as a Graduate Assistant at Young Library in the Reference Department. I will graduate next May and then hopefully get a job in an academic library somewhere.

I should also mention that I am married to Andrew, a PhD candidate in the Chemical Engineering Department at UK. He’s pretty great.

One of my hobbies is running. Growing up, I hated it. But two years ago I decided to give it a shot since, for some reason, I had running a half marathon on my bucket list. So, here we are. Three half marathons later and I’m still running. I can’t say I am in love with it. But I do love how it challenges me. I also love that it allows me to eat extra food!

So, the point of this blog. My hope is to share a love of all things library and running with you all. I’m not even entirely sure what that will look like at this point, but half the fun is the journey, right?

And hey, if you love libraries and/or running, feel free to drop me a line. I would love to connect with you.
